New Fence
During Golden Week I spent a couple of days re-making the fence at the rear of The Three Little Pigs, as the old fence had rotted away and last year's typhoons finished it off.
Here's a before and after picture of the fence.
A Soup Fit for Popeye
This week's soup is Creamy Spinach, as it seems to be in season at the moment.
A soup that Popeye would certainly enjoy before he climbs that mountain!
Potato & Anchovy Quiche
Inspired by Len Deighton’s French Cooking for Men, this week's quiche is Potato & Anchovy.
As well as cook books Len Deighton has written a ton of great novels, mostly of the spy genre. Highly recommended.
Cashless Payments...at last!
Finally we are able to accept cashless payments, either by the major credit cards Visa (including Visa Debit,) Mastercard, JCB, Diners and American Express.
Or we are also set up for what in Japan is called 'denshi money' (電子マネー) which translates directly as 'electronic money' or I suppose a better term would be 'electronic payments'. Sorry for the digression, we can take iD, QUICPay, WAON, nanaco, Edy, Suica and PASMO.
So I think we've got it covered.
I must also say a big thank you to Yasuda-san from JMS for hs time, as we'd almost given up on electronic payments because every system we looked at seemed overly complicated, or too dependent on Apple hardware.
4th Year Anniversary
Happy 4th anniversary! Yesterday, March 1st, marked the completion of our 4th year in business at The Three Little Pigs.
The date had totally slipped our minds until one of our regular customers presented us with this gorgeous bunch of flowers!
We can't believe it's been four years already since we first opened the doors!
A big thank you to all our customers for your continued support!
Happy New Year 2019!
Happy New Year, and all the best for 2019!
2019 is the Year of the Pig, so we are looking forward to great things here at The Three Little Pigs!
Please note that from January we've made a small change to our opening hours, and we are now open form 9:00 in the morning.
Hope to see you soon!
Attention!
We have been lucky to receive these two sets of lead(?) soldiers from two of our regular customers.
We think they look great and ready for action now that we've finally displayed them!

Mysterious Owl
On arriving at the cafe this morning I noticed a plastic bag had been left outside. Cautiously handling it (thinking it may be a used nappy or dog poo), I discovered it contained something hard wrapped in a towel. A quick telephone call to my wife to ask if she was expecting anything drew a blank, but she advised leaving it unopened until she arrived (after asking if there were any wires sticking out of it!)
Turns out it's this ceramic owl ornament thing. Written on a post-it note were the the words, 'プレセント、どうぞ’ or 'Here's a present'.
No name, or clue, as to who may have left it for us...

Creamy Celery Soup
Autumn has arrived suddenly here in Tokyo, so it's back to soups. This week's soup is Creamy Celery.
I always get a kick out of the size of the head of celery delivered by our vegetable supplier, Tousei.
Makes supermarket celery look tiny!
Habibi
We were lucky to be visited on Wednesday and Thursday by the members of Habibi. Despite my initial ignorance of their existence they were perfectly charming, witty and engrossing with a touch of glamour thrown in!
They were in Tokyo for one night only to play at the UFO Club in Koenji.
Thanks for visiting us, and for the photo!
Good luck for future and if you're in Tokyo again please drop by.
