ラベンダーケーキ Lavender Cake
What could be a more quintessentiallly English herb, than lavender. We've used it to create our Lavender Cake, perfect with a nice cup of tea.
We'll be taking along our Lavender Cake along to this week's Shinjuku Isetan British Fair (伊勢丹新宿店 英国展), come and visit us on Saturday, 2nd November, between 16:00 and 20:00.
Isetan British Fair
Finally we can share some special news with you all, namely that we will be taking part in the British fair to be held at Isetan's department store, in Shinjuku.
The British Fair is an annual 6-day event held on the 6th floor of Isetan, one of Japan's top department stores. The event showcases the best of British food and drink, along with antiques, homewares and accessories. It is also supported by the British Embassy's Department for International Trade Japan.
Naturally we are extremely honoured to be a part of the fair.
We will be selling our cakes, scones and bsicuits on Saturday, 2nd November form 4p.m. to 8p.m.

Over the summer we refreshed our I added a bit more shelf space to show off our Darvilles of Windsor (ダーヴィルス オブ ウインザー) tea selection.
We have Darjeeling (ダージリン), Royalty Assam (ロイヤルティ・アッサム), English Breakfast (イングリッシュブレックファースト), Peppermint, Raspberry & Hibiscus (ラスべリ＆ハイビスカス), Camomile (カモミール) and Lemon & Ginger (レモン＆ジンジャー) available to buy.
So as well as enjoying a nice cuppa in The Three Little Pigs you can also enjoy a nice cuppa at home!
They also make ideal presents.
Typhoon Preparations
While Typhoon Hagibis (台風19号) does not affect our business hours as we are closed on Saturdays, that didn't mean we could relax.
All the smaller plant pots and outside decorations have been taken inside, and as we have no shutter on the window and door we have taken the precaution of boarding them over.
The result is this rather eerie view of the cafe.

Time for Espresso
It's not just about the teas at The Three Little Pigs. When we opened we decided that we'd also serve great coffee, and to me great coffee meant Italian. So we invested in an espresso machine and tried various brands of coffee beans before settling on our favourite. So far so good...and I know that to many people coffee is just coffee...we get the occasional compliment and it makes us happy...but the 'icing on the cake' came last month when an Italian customer coffee aficionado, who'd ordered a cappucino said it was really good, and as good as any capuccino he'd drink back home in Italy!

We are proud to be taking part in Shinjuku City's Yasai no Hi (しんじゅく野菜の日) campaign. The idea is to get the citizens of Shinjuku to eat more vegetables and fruit, similar to the 5-a-day campaigns in other countries.
So during September lunch customers will have the option of ordering a vegetable and fruit packed smoothie from the set drink menu.

Tregothnan Tea ( トレゴスナン ティ)
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Tregothnan tea (トレゴスナン ティ) to The Three Little Pigs. Tregothnan tea (トレゴスナン 紅茶) is the only tea to be grown in the UK; Yes, you did read that correctly, the teas are actually grown in Cornwall which probably qualifies it as the warmest part of the country.
We are currently offering the Tregothnan Great British Tea blend by the pot, alongside our selection of teas from Darvilles of Windsor, Taylors of Harrogate and Ringtons.

Something new from this week, Iced Chai Latte アイスチャイラテ.
Milky chai served over ice, topped with a layer of microfoamed milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder.
Perfect for these muggy summer days!
The Sound from the Top of Hakone-yama
This is the view, and more importantly the sound, from the top of Hakone-yama yesterday morning. Just listen to all those cicadas (セミ), what a noise! Located in Toyama Park, Hakone-yama is the highest point, at 44.6m, in central Tokyo is a short walk away from The Three Little Pigs.
