Crispy Chicken Skins

Fed up of buying chicken with the skin on only to throw it away? Well with the minimum of effort you can turn that wasted skin into a tasty snack:

Ingredients

Chicken skins, oil for frying, salt.

Method

Set a pan of water to boil

Spread the chicken skins flat on a chopping board and using a sharp knife cut into 5cm squares (or thereabouts)

Throw the cut skins into the now boiling water and boil for 10 minutes.

Drain well (as any excess moisture while frying will cause the oil to spit)

In a shallow fry pan add a little oil (I used olive oil) and heat up.

When the pan is hot throw in the drained chicken skins and cook until they have turned colour and become crispy (about 5 minutes)

Remove from the oil and place on a square of kitchen paper.

Sprinkle with a little salt...and enjoy!

Normally I don't like sharing our recipes, as they are our closely guarded trade secrets! But here's one recipe I'll gladly share as it's not on the menu but is something I often make in the kitchen for the staff and myself to enjoy.

Happy Halloween

Our flower lady (Y-san) delivered this bouquet of autumnal colours, very Halloween. A big thank you to Y -san and Andy's Flowers of Wakamatsu-cho for keeping our window display fresh.

Sandwich Box

We were asked by a group of mums to provide a boxed sandwich lunch. So after a bit of thinking about the presentation we came up with this.

If you'd like us to provide a take out lunch please contact us.

Window Sticker

We'd wanted to add a window sticker for a long time, but as most print shops only accept images made with a certain proprietary software, that would be used only once, we had put it off. A chance meeting with the father of one of my daughters school friends , who owns a local print shop, set things in motion. Within a couple of days of talking about having a window sticker made, he'd converted our data, cut the sheet and was fixing it to the window. Great job and a big thanks to OSP Design Board in Haramachi 3-chome.

The Three Little Pigs shop front

I think you'll agree it makes us look more professional.

Wifi

Starting form this week we will be offering free wi-fi to our customers. Why it's taken us a long time to get around to configuring the router, setting passwords etc I don't know...but it's up and running now.

Please see in store displays for information on how to connect your device.

Thai Green Curry

We have been wanting to do a Thai green curry for a long time, but could not find a way of getting it on the menu. Finally we decided that the hot and humid summer would be an ideal time to give it a try. Yours for 800 yen without a drink, or 1000 yen with.

Enjoy!

Tacos Rice (Chilli-con-carne)

Thought it was about time that the photo of our most popular lunch item was updated, especially as we see a fair few of our customers checking the menu board after after eating lunch!  So here's an all new up to date picture of Tacos Rice. For those not familiar with the Japanese dish of Tacos Rice it's basically a variant of Chilli con carne, if fact when we fist opened we tried calling it Chilli con Carne on the menu but nobody knew what it was so we changed the name to Tacos Rice!

It's always beer o'clock in The Three Little Pigs, and this month we've managed to source another offering from BrewDog the makers of PUNK IPA. This time we are proud to offer you their 5AM SAINT.

I won't bother giving you a lengthy taste description...only to say give it a try; you won't be disappointed!

Cheers!
