2nd Anniversary

Last week, March 1st, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary.

How time flies when you're having fun, it only seems like yesterday that we opened!

To mark the anniversary our regular flower lady ordered something special from Country Flowers Andy. I think you'll agree that the display looks great.

Thank you, and may we have many more anniversaries!

Visitors from Finland

On Monday we had a very nice couple from Finland visit us for lunch.

It gave the staff a good chance to use their English skills, especially as they needed to find a bank when they realised we didn't take cards! (And yes, LIQUID we are still waiting for that functionality!)

On leaving they taught us a little Finnish, "Kiitos paljon" which means Thank you.

Even here, in a quiet backwater of Shinjuku, we are seeing many more foreign tourists, so we maybe need to promote our English language skills more.

And the reply to, "Kiitos paljon"?

 "Ei kestaä" of course.

Somebody's Sending Us Letters

We found this letter in our postbox on Monday,

 ”さんびきのこぶたさんへい、毎日オートミールビスケットとバナナケーキをやいてください”

which roughly translates as;  "Dear Three Little Pigs, could you please bake Oatmeal Biscuits and Banana Cake everyday."

We had an inkling as to who the author of the letter may be...our very own daughter whose favourite items just happen to be the same as those requested.

Of course we were happy to oblige and took a few packets of Oatmeal Biscuits home for her.

Latte Art 2

Many more lattes later and I managed to create this...

...still not quite there, but a big improvement?

  I'll keep trying!

Do You Know the Muffin Man?

"Oh! Do you know the muffin man? The muffin man. The muffin man. Oh do you know the muffin man who lives in Drury Lane?"

Maybe you do, or maybe you don't, but don't worry as we have these freshly baked Mixed Berry Muffins ready to brighten up a cold February day in Tokyo.

250 yen, eat in or take out.

Are Gingerbread Men only for Christmas?

This was the reaction form one of our gingerbread men, after we told him that we would only be making gingerbread men in the weeks leading up to Christmas. As you can see he was not happy!

So we've decided to do a bit of market research and ask you for your opinion on whether gingerbread men are strictly a seasonal item? Please let us know 'yes' or 'no' by checking the appropriate box below.

Are gingerbread men only for Christmas?

 Thank you for your time.

Biscuit Selection Box

Just before Christmas we were asked if we could produce a selection box of biscuits, as the customer wanted to say thank you to her son's school teachers as they were relocating.

Naturally we said 'yes', and this is picture of the completed box ready for delivery to the school.

 Hope the teachers enjoyed them!

Remember if you'd like something similar, please feel free to ask us!

Latte Art?

Nearly there!

After 2 years of watching YouTube videos and the odd intense practice session this is the closest I've come to producing latte art!

What am I doing wrong????

Christmas Flowers

A big thank you to Andy's Flowers of Wakamatsu-cho and Y-san for putting together this wonderful bunch of Christmas flowers.

They look so great that I cleared all the other clutter out of the window and just set these in the centre.

Gift Bags

We were asked by our friends at Shinjuku Kodomo Gekijo to provide some gift bags to the preformers at a recent event. This led to a further order of twenty such bags by a lady who saw the bags and thought they would make great presents for her circle of friends.

So, we're now in the business of biscuit making.

Available to order. Contents can be selected. The bag above contained a Gingerbread Man, oatmeal biscuits, three little pigs chocolate biscuits and a flapjack.
